I love the abundant display of white blooms that this great plant produces. Exochorda ‘The Bride’ is widely planted, it is however, a wide spreading shrub, and when the flowers are gone there is not so much to admire.

This variety differs in having a more compact and upright growth habit, making it easier to fit into smaller gardens, and the shape I find more pleasing when not in flower.

I have it planted at the back of the house in a border that divides the Firepit Garden from The Vegetable Garden, beside it grows Daphne bholua ‘Jacqueline Postil’.

Exochorda ‘Magical Springtime’ starts blooming as the final blooms of the Daphne start to fade, making a beautiful transition from winter bloom to spring flowering. This plant is a celebration of Spring, a floral display that rivals Japanese cherries, and takes up much less space.
