The Garden – creating our own bit of paradise

The Garden

The Paddock – the garden project continued from the initial work by my partner, Daphne,

My contributions started with 4 vegetable beds, In March 2020, as Covid-19, made the world grind to a halt.

As restrictions continued beyond the initial three weeks, my gardening project grew.

Working within the constraints of the site and existing features, the aim is to create a little bit of paradise, for ourselves, a family garden, to feel the glory of nature, to view the beauty of plants and experience the joys of having the beauty of plants all around us.

The work continues…

The Plants – plants, plants, plants, variety, diversity, beauty.

The Plants

I love plants!

Flowers, foliage, shape & texture, all are important.

Then there is the art of combining, contrasting, complementing, working with plants to create beauty.

Sometimes, it is the shape of the leaf, the size, the colour, the detail; the strappy leaves of Phormium ‘Black Adder’, the giant size of Tetrapanax papyrifer ‘Rex’, the glowing trumpets of Brugmasia sanguinea, the coarse teeth on the margin of Agave celsii ‘Nova’.

Luckily in my work I get to see new plant intrductions from suppliers in Europe and here in Ireland, and try them out here at The Paddock.
